St. Peter's Bay Sponsors Award For Innovative Alexandra Teacher

During the recent Alexandra School Speech Day and awards ceremony, the many teachers and students honoured for their outstanding achievements included the head of the Science Department, Amaida Greaves, who collected the St. Peter's Bay Technology Integration Award for continued use of technology in her classes.

The award was in the form of a special trophy and the opportunity to attend the next annual conference of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the largest teachers' professional organization in the world with over 180,000 members, which will be held in Anaheim, California.

Jeff Broomes, principal of Alexandra School, explained that he selected the recipient for this special award based on the amount of technology she has integrated into her actual classes and praised St. Peter's Bay SRL for their involvement, noting that the award was part of the company's commitment to the school.

He said that as an EduTech school and with the Government's thrust at pushing technology at the school, this award was a great incentive for teachers to go the extra mile to integrate technology into their teaching.

"St. Peter's Bay SRL, as sponsors of this award, has developed themselves as an outstanding corporate citizen, especially through its involvement with Alexandra School, which does not stop at this level. The company has also recognized the need to boost education and has really come to the aid of children in this area, especially with its support of the St. Peter Read to Success programme which helps children with special learning needs," Broomes said.

Betty Cathrow of St. Peter's Bay presented Greaves with the award and reassured the company's commitment to the school saying, "St. Peter's Bay remains committed to playing its part in the community and this award along with other several planned projects are worthy contributions that will benefit the school and members of the community alike."
